- To formulate key policies and action plans related to veteran affairs;
- To supervise the implementation of policies and action plans related to veteran affairs;
- To coordinate and monitor the implementation of policies and action plans related to veterans with relevant ministries, agencies, bodies, or government organizations, and the private sector;
- To advise and make recommendations on the formulation of any legislation or amendments to any existing legislation to ensure the welfare and interests of veterans;
- To advise the Government on veteran affairs issues, including developments at the international level;
- To act as a monitoring body for all veteran associations in Malaysia; and
- To perform any other functions as directed by the Minister for the proper implementation of this Act.
