HIS EXCELLENCY OF PENANG RECEIVES COURTESY CALL FROM DIRECTOR GENERAL OF JHEV ATM
Penang, 14 January 2025 – His Excellency of Penang, Tun Dato’ Seri Utama Ahmad Fuzi bin Haji Abdul Razak, received a courtesy call from the Director-General of the Department of Veterans’ Affairs of the Malaysian Armed Forces (JHEV ATM), Major General Dato’ Haji Semaon bin Haji Marjuki, at the Official Residence of Seri Mutiara, George Town, Penang, on Tuesday.
This visit reflects JHEV ATM's ongoing efforts to ensure the welfare of Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) veterans remains a priority, particularly in the state of Penang. During the meeting, the Director-General of JHEV ATM had the opportunity to share information on various initiatives implemented and plans for additional programs to enhance support for ATM veterans and their families.
Key agendas discussed include:
- Cost of Living Assistance (BSH) – Supporting the basic needs of ATM veterans and their families, especially those with low incomes.
- Housing Initiatives – Providing assistance for house repairs or new construction for needy ATM veterans.
- Educational Assistance for Schools and Higher Education Institutions (IPT) – Helping ATM veterans’ families with educational expenses for their children to ensure a brighter future.
- Disaster Relief Assistance – Offering immediate support to ATM veterans affected by disasters such as floods and storms.
- Medical Equipment Assistance – Supplying medical equipment like wheelchairs, special beds, and others to needy ATM veterans.
- Funeral Management Assistance – Providing financial aid for funeral arrangements as a final tribute to ATM veterans.
- Second Career Opportunities – Collaborating with the Penang State Government to provide job opportunities for both pensioned and non-pensioned ATM veterans, aiding them in continuing their livelihoods after service.
His Excellency of Penang also expressed appreciation for JHEV ATM’s efforts in caring for veterans’ welfare, recognizing them as individuals who have greatly contributed to the nation. He hopes the strong collaboration between the state government and JHEV ATM will continue and be further strengthened in the future.
Also present during the courtesy call were Lt Col Azwadi bin Jamian (Retired), Chief Executive Officer of the ATM Veterans Foundation, Major Mohammad Syaffik bin Yahaya, Staff Officer 2 of JHEV ATM, and Major Mohd. Izmer bin Ghazali (RMAF), Director of JHEV ATM Kedah, Perlis, and Penang Branches.
